Aurora And The Stars
Who does not enjoy watching the stars and hoping in your lifetime you have the amazing opportunity to capture the Aurora Borealis? I never thought I would be able to see it, until my wife and I moved to Michigan. We were on a camping trip at Young State park in Lake Charlevoix, MI when my wife was following along on one of her many Aurora apps on her phone. It was later in the night when she noticed it and we stayed up... well I attempted to stay up, as I do tend to nap a lot. She woke me up through out the night to go take a peak outside.
The Aurora finally made its appearance, however you could barely see it through the human eye it was still awesome to see. I had my camera set up and ready to go, it was my red Nikon D5300 during that time shooting away. We stayed up for a few more hours until we could not bare the cold any more. As the weekend came to an end it was time to go home, as I was excited as ever to get home to go through my pictures from the weekend.
I finally had time to go through my pictures, and boy was I excited. As I was going through them I was an awe, because of what I had captured. Where we were set up was right next to the Lake Charlevoix shoreline, so the Aurora was right over the lake. All the colors of green, red, blue and purple blending together reflecting off Lake Charlevoix was mesmerizing. The Aurora was not the only thing I had captured, it was the Big Dipper bright as ever. I kept thinking, "this is not real, this is an amazing experience."
This was my first experience of the Aurora Borealis. I hope everyone at some point in their life gets to experience this amazing sight. This first picture is from that night in September of 2022. It is not the best quality picture because at that time I was editing on my MacBook, which is no longer living. So I had to transfer it over from my Phone. I hope you have enjoyed my experience, now, go have yours!
